If you buy 400g of Julius Meinl Atelier Collection hand crafted coffee and choose roasted , you will receive approximately 320g of roasted coffee.

About this specialty coffee:

This famous painting shows Napoleon crossing the Alps on his horse Marengo

The Coffee is grown on the South Atlantic St. Helena Island´s small Coffee plantation

Napoleon Bonaparte was well-known as a coffee drinker. He believed that drinking coffee lifted his spirits, enhanced his concentration, boosted his intelligence, freed creativity, and invigorated a tired body.

It is said that he drank coffee at many hours of the day and night. “I would rather suffer with coffee than be senseless” was attributed to him. On St. Helena, Napoleon drank coffee daily with breakfast and after lunch. His evening meal would not be complete without his coffee.

During his Italian campaigns and his crossing of the St. Bernard Pass on his trusted horse Marengo Napoleon relied on coffee.

The little coffee plantation on St. Helena dates back to the time Napoleon was detained there.

The taste of this coffee is unique: It has a wonderfully fruity sensation and is naturally sweet (as if a hint of sugar cane had been added to the coffee).

The coffee roasting process takes longer as the beans are more dense. This is due to the green bourbon coffee variety planted on the island, as well as the subtropical climate where the coffee cherries grow at a more leisurely pace. The longer roasting cycle brings out more of the coffee flavour.
